Self-Clinching Blind Nuts Technical Datasheet
Product Overview
Self-Clinching Blind Nuts provide permanent load-bearing threads in thin sheet metal where access is available from only one side of the sheet after installation. Unlike through self-clinching nuts, blind nuts feature a closed-end design that prevents screws from protruding through the back, making them ideal for sealed enclosures, electrical cabinets, electronic equipment and applications where debris, moisture or contaminants must be prevented from entering the assembly.
The fastener is permanently installed by pressing it into a properly sized hole using a parallel squeezing force. During installation, the sheet metal cold flows into the clinching groove, creating high resistance to push-out and torque-out without welding or secondary operations.

Primary Standard: PEM® Type B, BS equivalent
Installation
- Prepare properly sized mounting hole in the sheet.
- Do not perform any secondary operations such as deburring.
- Place the barrel of the fastener into the anvil hole and place
the mounting hole (preferably the punch side) over the shank
of the fastener. - With the installation punch and anvil surfaces parallel, apply
squeezing force until the flange contacts the mounting
sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a self-clinching blind nut?
A self-clinching blind nut is a permanently installed threaded fastener with a closed end that prevents screws from passing completely through the panel.
What is the difference between B and BS series?
B Series – Low carbon steel.
BS Series – Stainless steel.
Both follow the same installation principle but differ in material and corrosion resistance.
Why use a blind nut instead of a through self-clinching nut?
Blind nuts prevent screw protrusion and help maintain sealed enclosures, making them ideal for electrical and electronic equipment.
Are these reusable?
The installed fastener is permanent, but the mating screw can be removed and reinstalled multiple times.
What installation equipment is required?
A parallel acting hydraulic press, pneumatic press or arbor press is recommended. Hammer installation is not recommended.
