Nut Insert Semi Hex Large Flange Technical Datasheet
Open and Closed End
Product Overview
The Semi Hex Body Large Flange Nut Insert is a blind-installed threaded insert designed to provide strong, reusable threads in thin sheet metal, tubes, and hollow sections where access is available from only one side. The semi-hexagonal body offers increased resistance to rotation compared to round body inserts, while the large flange distributes the installation load over a wider surface area for improved pull-out resistance.
This datasheet covers both Open End and Closed End Semi Hex Body Large Flange Nut Inserts. The open-end version allows screws to pass completely through the insert, whereas the closed-end version seals the internal threads, preventing the ingress of dust, moisture, fluids, and contaminants while protecting the threads from corrosion.
Available in Steel and Stainless Steel, these nut inserts are widely used in sheet metal fabrication, electrical enclosures, automotive assemblies, HVAC equipment, machinery, furniture, and industrial equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Open End and Closed End Nut Inserts?
An Open End Nut Insert allows the screw to pass completely through the insert, making it suitable for through-hole applications. A Closed End Nut Insert has a sealed bottom that prevents screw penetration and helps protect the assembly from moisture, dust, and contaminants.
Why choose a Semi Hex Body over a Round Body?
The semi-hex body provides greater resistance to spinning during installation and under service loads compared to a round body.
What is the advantage of a Large Flange?
A large flange increases the bearing surface, reducing the risk of pull-through and improving load distribution on softer or thinner materials.
What materials are available?
They are commonly manufactured in zinc-plated steel and stainless steel.
What tools are required for installation?
Open End Dome Head Blind Rivets can be installed using hand-operated, pneumatic, battery-powered, or hydraulic blind rivet tools.
What installation tool is required?
A manual, pneumatic, battery-operated, or hydraulic nut insert installation tool can be used depending on production volume.
Can these inserts be used in stainless steel sheets?
Yes, provided the correct hole size, grip range, and installation force are used.
Can these be installed from one side only?
Yes. Semi Hex Body Large Flange Nut Inserts are blind-installed and require access from only one side of the workpiece.
Which industries commonly use these inserts?
They are widely used in sheet metal fabrication, automotive, electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment, industrial machinery, furniture, transportation and general manufacturing.
