Nut Insert Full Hex Reduced Flange Technical Datasheet

The Full Hex Body Reduced Flange Nut Insert is a blind-installed threaded insert designed to provide strong, reusable threads in thin sheet metal, tubes, and hollow sections where access is available from only one side. The full-hexagonal body offers increased resistance to rotation compared to round body inserts, while the reduced flange gives a flush fit.

This datasheet covers both Open End and Closed End Full Hex Body Reduced Flange Nut Inserts. The open-end version allows screws to pass completely through the insert, whereas the closed-end version seals the internal threads, preventing the ingress of dust, moisture, fluids, and contaminants while protecting the threads from corrosion.

Available in Steel and Stainless Steel, these nut inserts are widely used in sheet metal fabrication, electrical enclosures, automotive assemblies, HVAC equipment, machinery, furniture, and industrial equipment.

Open End Full Hex Reduced Flange Nut Insert

Open End Nut Inserts allow screws or threaded rods to pass completely through the insert, making them suitable for through-hole assemblies and applications requiring longer fasteners.

Closed End Full Hex Reduced Flange Nut Insert

Closed End Nut Inserts feature a sealed bottom that prevents screw penetration beyond the insert. They are ideal where moisture, dust, oil, or contaminants must be prevented from entering the assembly or where blind fastening is required.

What is the difference between Open End and Closed End Nut Inserts?

An Open End Nut Insert allows the screw to pass completely through the insert, making it suitable for through-hole applications. A Closed End Nut Insert has a sealed bottom that prevents screw penetration and helps protect the assembly from moisture, dust, and contaminants.

Why choose a Full Hex Body over a Round Body?

The full-hex body provides greater resistance to spinning during installation and under service loads compared to a round body.

What is the advantage of a Reduced Flange?

Provides a flush finish.

What materials are available?

They are commonly manufactured in zinc-plated steel and stainless steel.

What installation tool is required?

A manual, pneumatic, battery-operated, or hydraulic nut insert installation tool can be used depending on production volume.

Can these inserts be used in stainless steel sheets?

Yes, provided the correct hole size, grip range, and installation force are used.

Can these be installed from one side only?

Yes. Full Hex Body Reduced Flange Nut Inserts are blind-installed and require access from only one side of the workpiece.

Which industries commonly use these inserts?

They are widely used in sheet metal fabrication, automotive, electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment, industrial machinery, furniture, transportation and general manufacturing.
