ISO 14583 Hexalobular (Torx®) Pan Head Machine Screw Datasheet
ISO 14583 Hexalobular (Torx®) Pan Head Machine Screw
ISO 14583 specifies hexalobular (internal Torx® drive) pan head machine screws with metric threads ranging from M2 to M10. These screws provide significantly improved torque transmission compared to conventional Phillips or Pozidriv drives, reducing cam-out and improving assembly efficiency in automated and manual fastening operations.
ISO 14583 screws are widely used in automotive, electronics, industrial machinery, telecommunications, electrical equipment, appliances, and precision engineering where repeatable tightening torque and long service life are required. The current ISO 14583:2011 edition remains the active standard after its latest systematic review.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is ISO 14583?
ISO 14583 is the international standard covering hexalobular (internal Torx®) pan head machine screws with metric threads from M2 to M10.
Why use Torx instead of Phillips?
The hexalobular drive transmits higher torque with less cam-out, resulting in improved fastening reliability and reduced tool wear.
What drive sizes are used?
Drive sizes vary according to screw diameter (e.g., T6 through T50 depending on the fastener size).
Are ISO 14583 screws fully threaded?
Yes. ISO 14583 machine screws are supplied with full metric threads unless otherwise specified.
What materials are commonly available?
Carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel (A2 & A4), brass, titanium, and aluminium.
Are stainless steel versions available?
Yes. Common grades include A2-70 and A4-70, with A4 recommended for marine and corrosive environments.
What industries commonly use ISO 14583 screws?
Automotive, electronics, telecommunications, industrial machinery, robotics, aerospace, medical equipment, and electrical manufacturing.
