Phillips Pan Washer Head Screw Technical Datasheet

Phillips Pan Washer Head Screws (W/W screw) combine a standard pan head with an integral washer flange, providing a larger bearing surface than conventional pan head screws. The integrated washer distributes the clamping load over a wider area, reducing the risk of surface damage, preventing pull-through on softer materials, and improving joint stability without requiring a separate washer.

These screws are widely used in sheet metal fabrication, electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment, automotive assemblies, electronics, appliances, telecommunications equipment, and general industrial manufacturing where improved load distribution and faster assembly are required.

Dimensions Tolerances:
General dimensional tolerances for standard metric fasteners—including thread diameter, overall length, head diameter, head height/thickness, across flats, and washer dimensions—are available in our Standard Dimensional Tolerances for Common Metric Fasteners guide.

Certain product-specific features, such as drive recess dimensions, socket depth, countersink geometry, under-head radii, and other special characteristics, are governed by the applicable DIN or ISO product standard and may not included in this datasheet.

What is a Phillips Pan Washer Head Screw?

It is a machine screw with a Phillips cross recess and an integral washer flange that increases the bearing surface under the head.

What is the benefit of the washer head?

The built-in washer spreads the clamping load over a larger area, reducing the chance of damaging the workpiece and often eliminating the need for a separate washer.

Is there a DIN or ISO standard for Pan Washer Head Screws?

There is no direct DIN or ISO equivalent. Most Pan Washer Head Screws are manufactured to manufacturer standards or JIS specifications, although thread dimensions generally follow ISO metric standards.

Are the screws fully threaded?

Yes. the screws are supplied with full metric threads.

Which screwdriver should be used?

A correctly sized Phillips screwdriver or bit (PH1, PH2, or PH3 depending on screw size) should be used to prevent cam-out and damage to the recess.

Are stainless steel versions available?

Yes. They are commonly available in A2 (304) and A4 (316) stainless steel.

Can these screws replace a flat washer?

In many applications, yes. The integral washer flange provides a larger bearing surface than a standard pan head, reducing or eliminating the need for a separate flat washer.
