DIN 7984 Low Head Socket Head Cap Screws Technical Datasheet
DIN 7984 Low Head Socket Head Cap Screws are metric threaded fasteners featuring a reduced cylindrical head with an internal hexagon (Allen) drive. Compared to standard DIN 912 / ISO 4762 socket head cap screws, DIN 7984 screws provide a significantly lower head height, making them ideal for installations where vertical clearance is limited.
Due to the reduced head dimensions, DIN 7984 screws have reduced loadability compared to standard socket head cap screws and should be selected only where the application permits lower preload and tightening torque. They are widely used in automation equipment, machine tools, robotics, electronics, medical devices, motors, linear guides, and compact mechanical assemblies

Frequently Asked Questions
What is DIN 7984?
DIN 7984 specifies hexagon socket head cap screws with a reduced cylindrical head for applications where installation height is limited.
How is DIN 7984 different from DIN 912?
DIN 7984 has a lower head height and smaller hex socket than DIN 912, allowing installation in confined spaces but with reduced loadability.
Are DIN 7984 screws fully threaded?
Smaller sizes are generally fully threaded. Larger diameters may be supplied either fully or partially threaded depending on the manufacturer and screw length.
Are DIN 7984 screws as strong as DIN 912 screws?
No. Due to the reduced head geometry, DIN 7984 screws are intended for reduced loading compared with standard socket head cap screws
What materials are commonly available?
Stainless Steel A2 (304)
Stainless Steel A4 (316)
Alloy Steel 8.8
Alloy Steel 10.9
Alloy Steel 12.9
Titanium (special order)
What industries commonly use DIN 7984 screws?
They are widely used in automation, machine tools, robotics, medical equipment, electronics, precision machinery, and compact mechanical assemblies.
