Hi-Bolt Structural Blind Rivet (Monobolt® Type) – Dome Head – Technical Datasheet
Product Overview
The Hi-Bolt Structural Blind Rivet – Dome Head is a high-strength, mechanically locked blind fastening system designed for applications requiring superior tensile strength, shear strength, vibration resistance, and permanent mandrel retention. Commonly referred to in the industry as a Monobolt® type structural blind rivet, the Hi-Bolt rivet provides a reliable structural fastening solution where access is available from only one side of the assembly.
The dome head design provides a strong bearing surface and is suitable for a wide range of structural and industrial applications. The positive mechanical locking mechanism permanently retains the mandrel after installation, ensuring excellent resistance to vibration, impact, and dynamic loading conditions.
Hi-Bolt structural blind rivets are widely used in transportation, electrical enclosures, construction, renewable energy, heavy equipment, and industrial sheet metal fabrication.
Disclaimer: The term Monobolt® is a registered trademark of its respective owner and is used here solely as an industry-recognized reference to describe a category of structural blind rivets. Horizon Inc. supplies equivalent structural blind rivets unless otherwise specified.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Hi-Bolt Structural Blind Rivet?
The Hi-Bolt Structural Blind Rivet is a mechanically locked structural blind fastener designed for high-strength applications requiring permanent mandrel retention and excellent vibration resistance.
Is Hi-Bolt equivalent to a Monobolt® type rivet?
Yes. Hi-Bolt rivets are designed as Monobolt® type structural blind rivets and provide similar functional characteristics, including mechanical locking and retained mandrels.
Why is the mandrel retained after installation?
The retained mandrel improves tensile and shear strength while preventing loose mandrel fragments within the assembly.
Are Hi-Bolt rivets stronger than standard blind rivets?
Yes. Structural blind rivets provide significantly greater tensile and shear strength compared to conventional open-end blind rivets.
Are Hi-Bolt rivets suitable for vibration-prone applications?
Yes. The positive mechanical locking system provides excellent resistance to vibration, shock, and dynamic loading.
Are Hi-Bolt rivets watertight?
Standard Hi-Bolt rivets provide good sealing performance but are not guaranteed to be fully watertight. Additional sealing methods should be considered where complete sealing is required.
Can Hi-Bolt rivets be installed from one side?
Yes. Hi-Bolt rivets are blind fasteners and require access from only one side of the assembly.
What installation tools are required?
Hi-Bolt structural rivets require pneumatic, hydraulic, or battery-operated installation tools designed specifically for structural blind rivets.
