DIN 965 Countersunk (CSK) Phillips Machine Screw Technical Datasheet
DIN 965 Phillips Countersunk Head Machine Screw (Cross Recess Type H)
DIN 965 Phillips Countersunk Head Machine Screws are metric machine screws featuring a 90° countersunk (flat) head with a Phillips (Type H) cross recess drive. Designed to sit flush with the mounting surface after installation, these screws provide a clean appearance while preventing protruding heads that may interfere with moving components.
Although DIN 965 has been superseded by ISO 7046-1, it continues to be one of the most widely specified standards across industrial machinery, electrical panels, sheet metal fabrication, electronics, furniture, appliances, and general engineering applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is DIN 965 still an active standard?
DIN 965 has been replaced by ISO 7046-1, although it remains one of the most commonly specified countersunk machine screw standards in industry.
What is the head angle?
DIN 965 screws have a 90° countersunk head.
What does Phillips Type H mean?
Type H refers to the standard Phillips cross recess designed for installation using Phillips screwdrivers.
Is DIN 965 fully threaded?
Yes. DIN 965 machine screws are generally supplied fully threaded.
Are DIN 965 screws available in stainless steel?
Yes. Common grades include A2-70 (304) and A4-70 (316).
Can DIN 965 screws be used outdoors?
Yes, when manufactured from stainless steel or supplied with suitable corrosion-resistant coatings.
What hole should be prepared?
DIN 965 screws require a 90° countersunk hole so the screw head sits flush with the mating surface.
Where are DIN 965 screws commonly used?
They are widely used in electrical enclosures, machinery, electronics, furniture, sheet metal fabrication, instrumentation, and general engineering assemblies.
