What is ISO 14579?

ISO 14579 specifies hexalobular (Torx®) socket head cap screws with cylindrical heads and internal Torx drives for metric threads from M2 to M20.

Why choose Torx over Hex Socket?

The hexalobular drive distributes torque more evenly, reducing cam-out, improving torque transfer, and extending tool life compared with conventional hex sockets.

Are ISO 14579 screws stronger than DIN 912 screws?

Not inherently. Strength depends on the material and property class (such as 8.8, 10.9, or 12.9). The main difference is the drive design, not the mechanical strength.

Are these suitable for automated assembly?

Yes. The Torx drive provides excellent bit engagement, making ISO 14579 screws a preferred choice for robotic and high-speed automated assembly lines.

Can ISO 14579 screws replace DIN 912 screws?

In many applications, yes, provided the head dimensions and design requirements are compatible. The Torx drive often offers better installation performance while maintaining similar head geometry.

Why are socket head cap screws preferred over hex bolts?

Socket head cap screws provide higher tightening torque, require less installation space, and are ideal for precision machinery where recessed mounting is needed.
